Long Distance - HowTo (Part 2)
Aug 19, 2013

Since the school year is approaching, long distance couples are spending their last days of summer enjoying each other's company. Nobody wants to say goodbye. But it will be soon before they begin their long distance routines of calling and texting each other everyday. It's going to be difficult... BUT luckily, there are some ways that couples can still stay positive if they plan on going the long distance route. If you haven't read part 1 of this note yet, click here to catch up!

Anyways, in the last note I talked about how to pace the communication between couples in the long distance relationship. The point was not to force phone or video calls too often, but at the same time, don't hold back from calling the other person. So what are some other things that couples can do to achieve a positive relationship?

Find activities that you both can do at the same time - This is actually an effective way to take couples' minds off the long distance of their relationship. Whether it'd be catching up on the latest show together, playing online games, or even cooking a meal together; these are all things that don't require both people to be in the same room, but couples can enjoy each other's company while phone or video calling.

For the couples that don't talk much, watching shows that you both like are a great way to spend time together. You can both laugh or make comments about the same parts because you'll be watching the show together in sync. Playing online games is another way to bond over the internet, though, this can get ugly if raging is involved (see my note on Raging Hard). Personally, I think cooking meals while video chatting is really cute. Both people can give each other cooking tips and laugh when one person puts in the wrong ingredients or overcooks their food. This is probably my favourite long distance activity.

Here are just a few things that both people can do together without being together in the same room. There are a ton of other things that couples can do depending on how creative they get. Remember, if both people are in this for the long run, the long distance is only a test to see how far your love can go. Don't be afraid to try new things to spice up the relationship!
